An on-site fitness center is a convenient amenity valued by employees who already have a fitness routine. As their employer, you are contributing to keeping your fit employees healthy and helping them control their future healthcare costs.
But what about the employees who may feel intimidated to use a fitness center? These are the employees most at risk for health issues. Fitness Works at Work’s fitness leaders go the extra mile with high-touch fitness to engage and encourage these employees to start a journey to health and fitness. In our experience, employees are more apt to alter unhealthy behaviors when they have access to focused, one-on-one encouragement and support from a fitness leader. Our high-touch fitness approach reaches out to those employees who need extra motivation to join our fitness centers. They come to trust our fitness leaders and they feel comfortable engaging in fitness center activities.
We have found that fun, easy programs made available to all employees, not just members of the fitness center–such as Move 2010, Battle of the Holiday Bulge, The Biggest Healthy Loser or Walk Your Way Fit–provide non-threatening opportunities for employees to jump-start a weight loss and exercise routine. Also, beginner group classes such as Entre to Exercise and Women on Weights help non-exercisers learn to exercise safely and demonstrate to them the benefits of being more active.
